What HONESTY90 does not do
HONESTY90 does not require an account, does not include advertising trackers, does not build a behavioral advertising profile, and does not intentionally retain your search history in the application.
What happens when you search
Your query is sent from your browser to HONESTY90's server-side search endpoint. For web search, that endpoint sends the query to Brave Search API. For News, HONESTY90 uses Brave News Search API. HONESTY90 then normalizes, deduplicates, ranks, and in News may group closely related coverage before rendering the result set.
Search suggestions
When suggestions are available, pauses while typing two or more characters send the partial query through HONESTY90 to Brave Autosuggest, before you submit a search. Suggestions use a fixed U.S./English setting, not your inferred location. HONESTY90 does not save suggestion history or use it to build a profile. Brave's upstream terms still apply.
Upstream retention still matters
Brave receives the query needed to perform the search, and Brave's own API privacy and retention terms apply. HONESTY90 therefore does not claim that nobody retains search-query data or that the full search path has zero data retention.
News images
News results may include article thumbnails supplied with upstream news results. Those images can be loaded from external image hosts in your browser. HONESTY90 requests them without a referrer header, but the image host can still receive normal connection information such as your IP address. A future image-proxy design may further reduce that exposure.
Clicks
Search-result and news-story links go directly to the destination site. HONESTY90 does not intentionally add click-tracking redirect URLs. Destination websites have their own privacy practices once you leave HONESTY90.
Local preferences
If interface preferences are added, the default design goal is to keep them on your device when practical rather than tying them to an identity.
